Alcohol is the Number One drug of choice for America's teens -- used more than all other illicit drugs combined. AlcoholEdu for High School is designed to help high school students contend with a culture that too often encourages, rather than discourages, underage drinking.
The Scituate Education Alliance has brought this groundbreaking new program to Scituate High School. Through the cooperation of the Scituate School Committee, Superintendent Mark Mason, and Health Education Director, Grace Brennan, Scituate students will pilot this innovative program in Fall 2004.
AlcoholEdu courses incorporate proven prevention strategies with essential, science-based alcohol education. Providing an interactive, engaging experience
AlcoholEdu courses guide students to make safer, healthier decisions about alcohol. And, when given to entire populations such as a whole grade
AlcoholEdu has been shown to reduce consumption levels and the negative behaviors associated with high-risk drinking.
Outside the Classroom has been helping colleges around the country deal with the problem of teenage drinking. The AlcoholEdu for College program has been documented to reduce consumption and high-risk behavior on college campuses. For example, on campuses where all first-year students were required to take AlcoholEdu for College:

- The proportion of abstainers increased by 10%
- The proportion of problematic drinkers dropped by 18%
- The average number of drinks consumed per week by drinkers dropped from 9.9 before taking the course to 8.6 after the course

- Motivates behavior change
- Supports safer, healthier decisions regarding alcohol
