ORGANIZATION STRATEGIES:
Helping Students Conquer Confusion

JOAN SEDITA, M.Ed
Joan Sedita, noted educational consultant, author, veteran teacher and founder of the Landmark School Study Skills Program, will conduct a workshop for K-12 teachers followed by a presentation also open to parents of children in grades 3-12. Teachers attending will be awarded Professional Development Points (PDPs) for both programs.

3:30 - 5:30pm
Study Skills Workshop for Teachers (2 PDPs)
Classroom Teachers and Specialists
Building on organizational methods presently utilized in the Scituate school system, Ms. Sedita will review basic skills, recommend expanded applications, and emphasize how to incorporate study skill instruction into classroom curricula. Her program describes how to teach students to analyze, interpret and evaluate information, fostering "active readers" and strengthening MCAS performance.

7:00 - 9:00pm
Helping Your Child with Organization and Study Skills (2 PDPs)
Teachers and Parents of Children in Grades 3 - 12
The evening program will discuss how parents can help children to become better organized, from learning how to use calendars, checklists and assignment books, to developing a Master Notebook System. Ms. Sedita also will detail study methods for reading assignments and test preparation.
